電動(dòng)叉車是指以電來進(jìn)行作業(yè)的叉車，大多數(shù)都是為蓄電池工作。而蓄電池是電池中的一種，它的作用是能把有限的電能儲(chǔ)存起來，在合適的地方使用。它的工作原理就是把化學(xué)能轉(zhuǎn)化為電能。 電動(dòng)叉車的電瓶?jī)?nèi)裝的也就是這種蓄電池。要注意的是：電池最好不要橫放！因?yàn)椋姵氐膬?nèi)部一般是22～28%的稀硫酸。電池正放的時(shí)候電解液可以淹沒極板并且還剩下一點(diǎn)空間如果把電池橫放的話會(huì)有一部分電極板暴露在空氣中，這對(duì)電池的極板非常不利，而且一般的電池的觀察孔或者電池的頂部都有排氣口與外界相通，所以電池橫放電解液很容易流出。
