In May, 2,433 newly-established foreign-invested enterprises were approved, down 5.4% year on year; the actual use of foreign capital reached 54.67 billion yuan, decreasing by 3.7% year on year. The Head of the Department of Foreign Investment Administration of the Ministry of Commerce pointed out that China’s assimilation of foreign investment in January-May mainly showed the following features: The assimilation of FDI in high-tech service sector continued to increase. The actual use of foreign capital in hi-tech service sector reached 48.64 billion yuan, up 20.5% year on year. Among these, that in information service, R&D and design service, transformation of scientific and technological achievements service grew up 15.9%, 4.8% and 69.3% respectively year on year. The other modern service sector maintained the sound momentum of development. For example, the actual use of foreign capital in transport, storage and post industry grew up 19.9% year on year, and that in information transport, computer service and software industry, lease and commercial service industry and scientific research, technical service and geologic exploration industry grew up 16.8%, 32.7% and 26.1% respectively year on year. Besides, the manufacturing industry of chemical raw materials and chemical products grew up 27% and the general equipment manufacturing industry grew up 46.6% year on year. The actual input from Hong Kong, Taiwan and 28 EU countries grew up 12.7%, 41.8% and 6.2% respectively year on year (including investment through free port). Recently, China will take a series of moves to provide better service and create better environment for foreign FDI to enter into China, including releasing the revised Catalogue of Industries for Guiding Foreign Investment and deepening early and pilot implementation of foreign investment within the free trade zone. |
