In January-May, Chinese domestic investors carried out non-financial overseas direct investment in 3,121 overseas enterprises in 145 countries and regions, with an accumulative investment of US$ 34.59 billion, down 53% year on year. In May, the outward direct investment reached US$ 8.22 billion, down 38.8% year on year. The completed turnover of the contractual projects overseas was US$ 50.4 billion, up 0.6% year on year; the newly-signed contract value reached US$75.4 billion, down 0.1% year on year. In May, the completed turnover was US$ 11.04 billion, up 4.9% year on year; the value of the newly signed contract was US$ 13.59 billion, up 17.9% year on year. The number of the labor service personnel dispatched overseas reached 186,000, increasing by 5,000 over the same period of last year. At the end of May, the labor service personnel dispatched overseas amounted to 929,000. Official from the Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation pointed out that China’s outward investment and cooperation in January-May showed the following characteristics: Regarding the allocation of the outward FDI, the investment in 45 countries along the Belt and Road line increased with a combined non-financial direct investment of US$4.99 billion, taking up 14.4% of the total investment over the same period of time, 6.7 percentage points higher than that of the same period last year. The investment mainly flew to Singapore, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Cambodia, Russia, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates and Myanmar. China’s investment in Africa increased by 15.2% year on year. On industrial structure of outward FDI, the outward investment in January-May mainly flewt to commercial service sector, manufacturing and information transmit, software and information technology service sector, taking up 26.7%, 19.1% and 12.7% respectively year on year. Compared with that of last year, the outbound FDI flowing to manufacturing went up 88.8%, and that to information transmit, software and information technology service sector grew 45.8%. Regarding contracted projects, in January-May, Chinese enterprises newly signed 2,128 contracted projects in 61 countries along the Belt and Road line, with a contractual value of US$ 38.47 billion, taking up 51% of China’s total value of overseas contracted projects over the same period of time, down 1.6% year on year; the turnover was US$ 24 billion, taking up 47.6% of the total, up 6.7% year on year. |
